Choosing a portrait style should not be a stressful decision. Most people have a general sense of what they like visually, they just need a bit of help matching that to the right option. This guide breaks down each style honestly so you can pick with confidence.
Artistic: the safe choice that is not boring
Artistic is our best-seller, and not by accident. It is expressive and colorful without going over the top. You get bold colors, clear definition, and a result that works in most interiors.
If you are ordering for the first time and are not sure which style suits your pet, start here. It handles almost any photo well, works for dogs, cats and other animals equally, and the color palette system lets you control the mood of the final piece.
Good for: Most pets, most color preferences, most wall settings. A reliable first order.
Aquarel: soft, painterly, gallery-worthy
Aquarel is the quieter sibling of Artistic. Instead of bold color blocks, you get flowing washes of color, soft edges, and a result that genuinely looks like a watercolor painting rather than a digital design.
People often choose this style for cats, where the softness matches the animal's character, or for a memorial portrait where they want something that feels a bit more tender. It also works beautifully in rooms with light, neutral tones.
Good for: Cats, small pets, anyone with a more minimalist interior, memorial portraits.
Vibrant Brush: maximum impact
If Artistic is expressive, Vibrant Brush is bold. This is the style with the richest colors, the strongest contrast, and the most visual weight. It is designed to be the thing people notice when they walk into a room.
Vibrant Brush works best in spaces that can handle it. A feature wall, a studio, a room with other bold colors. If you are putting it in a neutral space and want it to be the statement piece, this is the one.
Good for: Dogs and pets with expressive faces, colorful interiors, anyone who wants maximum visual impact.
Street Art Crown: playful royalty
This one is exactly what it sounds like. Your pet, with a crown, in the center of a bold urban-inspired composition. It is playful without being childish, and it works surprisingly well across a range of interior styles because the street art aesthetic has become genuinely mainstream.
People often order this for a dog they already treat like royalty. It is also a good choice if you want something that comes with a built-in conversation starter.
Good for: Extroverted pets, personality-forward interiors, anyone who wants something a bit different.
Modern Street Art: street art, stripped back
Modern Street Art takes the same urban energy as the Crown style and makes it cleaner and more graphic. Less about the crown motif, more about strong composition and bold color blocking. If you like street art aesthetics but prefer something more refined, this is where you land.
It works well in contemporary spaces and tends to look particularly good at larger sizes, where the graphic clarity has room to breathe.
Good for: Contemporary interiors, anyone who likes urban design but wants something more composed.
Still not sure?
A few quick questions that usually help:
- Do you want soft and painterly, or bold and graphic? Soft = Aquarel. Bold = Vibrant Brush or Street Art.
- Do you want something playful, or something that feels more like proper art? Playful = Street Art Crown. Art = Aquarel or Artistic.
- Is this for a specific room? Think about what else is in that space. A neutral Scandi interior calls for Aquarel. A gallery wall with mixed prints can handle anything.
If you are still undecided, go with Artistic. It is our most versatile style and the one with the most five-star reviews. You can always order a different style next time, and quite a few customers do exactly that.
